Who Lives Here? - Helen

Well, it's my turn to be last. The idea for this quilt quickly developed while I was making a wall hanging (Heather's Kookaburra in the Morning) as a wedding gift. The branch or log suggested a home for some creature. The free motion stitching is definitely out of my comfort zone and provided an extra challenge.
And by the way, the wedding gift will soon be delivered - about six weeks late!

Our Clean Green Home

Hi Margie
When your topic came up I thought of the  saying here in New Zealand, about 'our clean green country.' This year it has been especially true with all the rain helping to green up the countryside. I have used the different New Zealand green fabrics and put 4 kiwis in the corners to represent the 4 of us here in New Zealand that are in our group. Dots on the map mark our home towns of Marton and Auckland.

Phone Home

Hi Margie,

Here at last is my "home" quilt.  I knew what I wanted to do as soon as I read your theme but it took three attempts to get it right!
The phone call to home has become a cornerstone of family life since Alexander Graham Bell made it possible.  It says I love you, I am safe, I need help (or money!), or I just need someone to talk to.  We welcome the phone call home and we have all made them. So here is my little quilt, "ET Phone Home".
I hope you like him as much as I enjoyed creating him

Coming Home

Hi Margie,
At last here it is! I've just checked out all of the quilts on the web and notice that two of us thought of the crab......well great minds and all that stuff.
Anyway your quilts look great so enjoy them all.
I too would be interested in continuing with our project in the future so count me in.

Mobile Home

We have just experienced a very cool, cloudy, damp summer and although we were dreaming of those long, hot, lazy days of summers past, it was not to be.

The snails, however, enjoyed the season and were certainly very mobile. It must have seemed like heaven, they moved in, uninvited, bringing along all their friends and family. What a party they had and what a nightmare for gardeners.

Margie, I admire your traditional little quilts so as a salute to your love of tradition this is my machine version of “Redwork”.

Kerry- Living by The Sea

Here you are Margie. I like the way you have pieced your little quilts and I have decided that applique is not my favourite method of creating a quilt so have pieced the outside edges and only appliqued the centre. I saw this gorgeous piece of batik(not mine) and thought it looked like the coastline here where I live so all I had to add were the houses. Looking forward to catching up in Sydney, hope to see some of you at AQC in a couple of weeks. All my new fat quarters are on their way today, can now think about piecing instead of cutting fabric.

I know this is not Margie Mays Home. This is my "Round" Thought you might like to see it. It has pieced wedges and inset into the background.  When I made it I thought it was pretty round but looking at it now its bulgie??. Goes to show practice doesn't always make perfect.
